Resident or non-resident is an important factor to calculate personal income tax and many incentives. Become a resident in Vietnam easier than ever since the Vietnam Gorvernment’s policies are open to the world.

How to identify a foreigner as a resident or non-resident and how to become a resident in Vietnam ? This article will help you out.


I. A foreigner is indentified as a non-resident

-A foreign worker who is present in Vietnam territory under 183 days in calendar year or 12 months in a row from the 1st day he or she enters Vietnam.

-A foreign worker has no regular accommodation in Vietnam, no registered place as the regulation of Vietnam law.


II. A foreigner is indentified as a resident

A foreign worker who is present in Vietnam territory under 183 days in calendar year or 12 months in a row from the 1st day he or she enters Vietnam. But has a regular accommodation in either :

+Has a registered regular accommodation by authorities.

+Has a renting house or renting hotel, motel in Viet nam, the minimum contract of renting is 90 days ,it does not descriminate a company or a staff rents the house.

-Come out of Viet nam is counted as 1 resident day.
